Whip It Up Challenge with Sew Mama Sew and Ink & Arrow {Kitchen-Themed Sewing & Free Patterns}

Today I’m grateful to be part of the Sew Mama Sew Whip It Up Challenge with Ink & Arrow fabrics. Not only do I get to showcase the Whip It Up fabric line (and a few coordinating Pixies prints) from Ink & Arrow, but also - just in time for Mother’s Day - I have several free kitchen-themed free motion applique designs you can download, a tutorial for a simple reversible apron, a framed applique design for the kitchen wall, and really fun kitchen-themed magnets.  Do you (or someone you know) enjoy cooking, eating, and/or sewing? (ha!)  Then today’s Whip It Up Challenge feature is for you!  Be sure to read to the end for links to free downloads and the other challenge participants.

It's Color Play Friday hosted by Lorinda (Laurel, Poppy & Pine) and Trina (In An Otter Life).  I'm not at #QuiltCon2016 this weekend, but I am having fun with #QuiltNon2016 instead, over on Instagram, and I hope you'll join us there if you aren't already having fun at QuiltCon.   You can take part in challenges, tutorials, and games and have the opportunity to win prizes all weekend long.  Visit my IG profile or Intrepid Thread's blog for more details.  Keep reading to find out what I thought of the colors and fabrics for this week.

M is for Moto Joggers from Hatchlings Patterns {Blog Tour}

As I type this blog post, I am wearing a pair of the most comfortable pants.  Ever.  And, I sewed them for myself using the new M is for Moto Joggers women's pattern* from Hatchlings Patterns (now Thread Faction as of May 2016) and the softest, most buttery-feeling french micro-terry fabric from LA Finch Fabrics.  I am excited to tell you about the pattern, which is the first woman's pattern from Liz at Hatchlings Patterns, and to participate in the M is for Moto Joggers Pattern Tour which begins today and continues through October 31.  Also, I'll be on Periscope showing the inside of my pants and talking more about the pattern, so follow me @SewNotPerfect to catch it live or watch the reply.  (you can view it at this link until 8pm EST on Tuesday).  I wrote a lot for this post.  I tried to bold the most important info for those who skim.  If you want to cut to the nitty gritty, read my bullet points, especially about the awesome sizing of this pattern and why you should trust the chart and fit modification instructions.
Disclosure:  I was contacted to participate in this tour and received the pattern for free in order to participate.  My review and comments are honest, straight-forward, and my own.  This post contains affiliate links marked with *.

File Your Fabric - Fabric Storage Solution

I love this fabric storage solution!  My friend found the idea on Pinterest, and I found it from her.  I do not have a sewing room, and all my work is done at the kitchen table.  I need a place to keep fabric and other sewing materials other places around the house.  It also needs to be secure from my children, especially my youngest who is just over one year old and loves getting in to my thread and fabric whenever she can get her hands on it!  I have between 1 and 3 yards of each fabric stored in this file drawer (the blue fabric with the large white flowers and green leaves shows what three yards looks like).   My friend took the folder off the metal hanging bars and just used the bars to hang her fabric.  I kept the folder in tact and used it to keep receipts, scraps, and to tuck coordinating remnants in.
